Abstract: We discuss how integral momenta, i.e. special integral quantities, whose dependence on time can be found explicitly or estimated, can be applied to study properties of solutions of a broad class of so-called gas-dynamics-like systems of equations, including in many space variables. This class of systems describes different compressible media and includes Navier-Stokes equations, granular matter equations, rotational gas dynamics, MGD equations, hydrodynamic interpretation of NLS, liquid crystal equations, etc. In particular, we present some general tool to obtain a finite time blow up result, and construct a special class of globally smooth solutions.
