Abstract: The definition of orbifold (Chen-Ruan) quantum cohomology is technical, but an alternative approach is suggested by mirror symmetry and quantum differential equations. This was implemented for weighted projective spaces by Tom Coates, Alessio Corti, Yuan-Pin Lee, and Hsian-Hua Tseng. Various related examples and generalizations have been studied, all of which involve differential equations of hypergeometric type. We shall describe some aspects of these differential equations and their deep relations with the theory of integrable systems. This is joint work with Hironori Sakai.
