Title: On growth speed of a birth-spread model for two-dimensional nucleation on a crystal surface

Abstract: We are interested in growth of a crystal surface by nucleation and propagation. One typical model is formulated as a level-set equation of an eikonal-curvature flow equation with an external source term representing nucleation effects. We shall study a large-time behavior of such an equation. Although there are many studies for large-time behavior of solution of the Hamilton-Jacobi equations or strictly parabolic equations, our equation is not yet studied because of special degeneracy of the parabolicity. We show that large-time behavior depends on the shape of support of the external source term when it is a characteristic function. This is a joint work with H. Mitake (Hiroshima) and H. Tran (Wisconsin).
