Introduction to the Geometry of Conformal Manifolds

  • Abstract : The geometry of conformal manifolds is similar to that of Riemannian manifolds. In this talk, I will introduce three topics: conformal geodesics; GJMS operators, which are conformally covariant differential operators; and the renormalized volume/area, which was introduced by Graham and Witten. Toward the end of the talk, I will briefly provide an overview of the recent research on the geometry of conformal submanifolds. This includes work on extrinsic GJMS operators by Case, Graham, and Kuo, as well as work on tractor bundles by Curry, Gover, and Snell.
